London

Street Pastors (Kingston) we will aim to reduce crime in Kingston town centre on Friday nights between 10pm-4am. We will recruit 20 more street pastors to help out on Saturdays from 10pm-4am. 

Docklands Outreach we will target known hotspots in Tower Hamlets as highlighted by the Crime Strategy Index 2005.  Main focus enrols youths onto a number of diversionary projects in operation.

Outside Chance (Hammersmith) we will fund workshops in schools/youth groups across Gt.London. PowerPoint presentations show harsh conditions in HM YOI Feltham, the reality of prison life.

Body of Christ Charity (Hackney) we will encourage young people in Hackney to develop a positive lifestyle away from Gun/ knife violence culture - ultimately save lives.  ‘Project Cease Fire’ aims to reduce the glamour and change the attitudes of young people within the community towards carrying and using guns and knives.

Congolese Community Council We aim to prevent young Congolese being attracted by Gang or use gun/ knife.  Our KEBA NA MPELI" aims to train youths and parents to fight to avoid the use of guns/knives.

Eternal Life Support Centre we will work directly with the perpetrators - offering  mentoring schemes. Parents and the community will be actively involved.

Echo of Afrika we will work with ex gun/knife offenders aged 16-25 years involved in gun/knife/gang activity, to be trained as peer mentoring. Aim to send young people to school/colleges/etc to talk to other people about their experiences.

Youth Education Services we will target young people 16-25 involved in or at risk. Mentored young people at risk by pairing them with employees at Microsoft where they learn skills and share in activities whilst being befriended.

Big Boss Entertainment Ltd (Neasden) we aim to Buddy and Mentor groups by way of self involvement also work with youths who have lost loved one or a relative to someone doing time for gun/knife crime.

Haringey Community Police Consultative Group We will engage young people aged 10 – 21.  To create a website that educates young people about the facts behind gangs, gun, violence, managing stress, anger and diversity, the law, young peoples rights.

Ascension Trust The project is for Street Pastors. Ongoing training initiative – we aim to reduce crime by being a visible presence on the street.

Rainer Lambeth Youth Inclusion Programme (YIP) (Brixton) we will target Cold Harbour and Clapham Park wards in Lambeth. YIP has been working with high risk young people (8-19) since 2001.

Castlehaven Community Assoc Camden Town identified as a crime hotspot. We aim to help young people to realise the impact of their behaviour; reduce the carrying of knives; develop young  peoples sense of social responsibility.

Kenyan Action Mission Gun/gang crime increase in Ealing Borough in particular Hanwell Copley Close Estate. We will target 15 young people from two different gangs who are at risk of becoming victims of the gangs or committing crime.

Springfield Community we will provide advisory and support service tackling gun/knife crime amongst BME males and 16-25 age groups. We will offer diversionary activities combined with mentoring schemes.

Mentoring Solutions (Croydon) we aim to de-glamorise gun/knife crime. Identifying alternatives to a non criminal life to alert and motivate young people to understand the consequences and appreciate that accepting accountability does not make them less of a man.

East Potential (Stratford) we will work on a one to one basis providing mentoring support to young people identified at risk. Support Time for Youth staff in working with young people who are involved in weapon crime.

Haggerston Youth Inclusion Project (Hackney) we will work alongside young people to try to alleviate the gun/gang warfare that exists in Hackney between postcodes. We will work with a core group of 10 young people on this project, from crime hotspot areas.

Outformation Ltd we will aim to target offenders of priority crime, those who have previous convictions through the staging of an anti-crime production primarily BME, with follow on workshops/discussions groups and an education pack.

West Norwood Community Development (WNCD)( West Norwood) we will divert young people from involvement with gun/knife/gang crime. We will disengage youth already involved in gang crime by working with mentors and ex gang members. 

NCBI London (Bromley) we will raise personal self esteem/confidence amongst young black males in Hackney & increase their community awareness; help them choose to stay alive through thinking about their environment and the role they play; to engage parents of the black males.

South Central Youth (Brixton) we will deliver a street support service; provide a free 24hr helpline. This project has been structured to support both victims and perpetrators out of gun/knife crime culture.

My Life Productions we will continue to work with young people on the Brimmington Estate in Peckham who are involved in Gangs such as the "Peckham boys" targeted by Youth offending Team and Youth Service as most at risk.

Islington Victim Support (Islington) we will deter young persons from carrying a knife for personal protection. We will work with young persons who have been the victims of offences or violence who might be temped to carry a knife for their own protection.

Community Links we will facilitate a specific project focusing on young people with disabilities who are involved in anti-social behaviour and/or extreme challenging behaviour (including violence) aged 15-25.

SE1 United Ltd we will identify young people at risk - to work with individual in a leadership programme which diverts from crime and encourages positive role models to emerge.

Boyhood to Manhood Foundation we will implement "calling the shots" which is a multimedia education and resource package and has lesson plans to educate people to understand the youth gun violence and promote effective gun crime prevention tools among Asian communities.

409 Project we are a voluntary agency that provides 1:1 work, offence focussed intervention for young offenders aged 10-19 within Lambeth. 

Man N Child we will work on an intense based one-to-one family support to 4 young people and 4 families (16-25) involved in gun and gang activity.

Leaders in Training we will work intensively with young people who are at risk of exclusion from school/joining a gang/using knives/Guns. Workshops: Effects of gun crime.

West Midlands

St Basils (Birmingham) we will reduce gang influence and crime within projects by promoting diversionary activities rather than leaving the wider community to deal with the problem. St Basils will continue to work with young people who are gang members involved in gun and knife related crimes.

Community Welfare Trust (Birmingham) we will work with disadvantaged young people involved in or at risk. We will support five existing young people and a further 10 will receive awareness and support in Enterprise (the initial mentoring & awareness stages). 

Bringing Hope (Birmingham) we will aim mobilise churches in Birmingham to respond to the issue of guns/drugs/ knives/gangs. Establish Training workshops for church leaders to raise awareness; Train a pool of volunteers called BHAdvocates drawn from churches.

Young Disciples (Birmingham) we will develop young people/adults, who are disaffected, socially disempowered and marginalised. We will provide programmes and activities for ages 14-30 through various approaches such as sports/health/media/Arts and Music.

North West

Lancashire Partnership Against Crime (Preston) we will work towards building on the success of the Government's knife Amnesty and to increase the profile of proactive enforcement and reassure law-abiding customers that venues are being made safer. We will educate young people in relation to the law on gun and knife crime.

Burnage Multi Agency Group (Manchester) We will establish a Boxing initiative with qualified coaches working with boys from the school and surrounding neighbourhood who are either gang members or on the periphery of gangs – we will engage students in an active pastime that will teach them amongst other things discipline, respect, good timekeeping and healthy living.

The Discus Project (Manchester) we will target the top 50 people aged 13-16 who are engaged in offending and deemed to be most at risk in the Beswick area of  Manchester. We have identified these young people through a multi-agency process which follows the YJB guidelines for a YIP client group.

Mothers Against Guns Merseyside (Liverpool) we will aim to support and educate young people mainly males to the effect and consequences of gun crime and also to work with anyone who's been effected by gun crime.

Whalley Range Youth Opportunities Assoc (Manchester) we will aim to enhance young peoples understanding of the realities of gang life; to challenge their understanding of gang culture; increase their understanding of the impact of their choices in relation to gun/knife crime, drugs etc

Aquarius Community Centre (Manchester) we will aim to divert young people from gang and gun culture; offer activities which will increase confidence/skills to resist involvement. We will work with those hardest to reach young people in the community. 

JALKYNA (Stockport) we will recruit and train voluntary community mentors; we will provide practical support and advocacy to the Group. We will assist group to meet 5 outcomes of every child matters. We will work with group to enable them to consider the consequences of gang culture.

East Midlands

Charnwood Independent Youth Action (Loughborough) we will work to reduce conflict between rival gangs in 2 areas of Nottingham by involving young men aged 16-25 in a structured training programme enabling them to provide positive activities in their own areas.

Enthusiasm (Derby) we will aim to educate young people at risk and the consequences of their behaviour. We deliver 3 Youth inclusion programmes (YIPs) working with young people deemed to be most at risk of offending  as determined by agencies across the city of Derby.

Young Potential (Nottingham) we are a local charity working with young people aged 13-18 yrs in Nottingham. We will build links between people in St Ann’s, Radford & Hyson Green where gun crime has led to high profile deaths of local teenagers.

Yorkshire and Humberside

CHIRAAG (Halifax) we will engage Asian male Muslims between 16-25 yrs of age who are vulnerable and at risk by offering them the opportunity to take part in diversionary activities discussed, negotiated and agreed with them.

Community Action and Support Against Crime (Leeds) we are identified as the 3 highest gun crime in the UK. We aim to drive forward the Weapons Awareness Project (WAP).

Mothers Against Violence (Leeds) we aim to provide preventative education to young people about the risks of becoming involved in gun/knife crime.

Education 2000 (Huddersfield) we aim to establish a youth forum. The Youth Forum would be run by young people with support from Kirklees Safer Communities and the police.

Christ Church Youth Project (Leeds) we will work with vulnerable young people aged 7-18 in Armley. We will aim to provide diversionary trips and activities. We will aim to reduce gun activity by providing activities to offer a purposeful alternative to crime.

The Humber Mentoring Project (Hull) we will work with Mentors who are all ex-offenders. The ASDAN accredited workshops include and heavily focus upon the use and escalation of gun and knife crime.

South West

Amana Education Trust (Bristol) we will provide mentors for young people at risk we will signpost them to advice services as well as providing Budding. We also link with Bristol University "Aim Higher" programmes.

Peacemakers/City of Bristol Prayer Patrol (Bristol) we will reduce crime build safer communities in Bristol by engaging with those at risk. We will provide advocacy & referral through the detached mentoring patrol teams.

South East

Refocus (Kent) we will get young people away from gangs etc to look at their lifestyles and make positive changes. We will give young people first hand real life experiences by discussions with Ex-offenders.

Community Volunteer Support Network (Middlesex) ‘Hands without Guns’ will seek to reduce guns among youth.  We will provide a youth platform from which to address gun violence and offer opportunities in positive social activities.

East of England

Goldington Phoenix Project (Bedford) we will engage young people within an area with a significant knife crime record in the issues surrounding knife ownership and promote a change in attitude. We will build relations within community in positively raising issues and encouraging change.

Positive Strides UK (Herts) we will work with at risk youths through workshops providing insights to cause and effects of behaviour, conflict management and mentoring sessions and ongoing support.

Wales

Mothers Against murder and aggression (Caernarfon) we will take part in a training course which will enable MAMA to go into school and youth groups to teach young people about the dangers of carrying a weapon.
